Ngelenge Development Association (NGEDEA) is a community based organization established with the overall goal of improving the lives of rural communities through the wise use of natural resources available in their respective areas.

Ngelenge is a small village of 2,250 villagers located in southwestern Tanzania in East Africa. The village is located at the mouth of the Ruhuhu River, where it empties into Lake Nyasa. The village is 2 km long and most live along the only dirt road in the village. The villagers in Ngelenge are descendents of tribes escaping warfare and seeking fertile land that migrated north from South Africa in the 1700s.

NGEDEA was created with the intention of assisting not just Ngelenge but neighboring villages as well. The villagers felt that true development would only be realized through an integrated approach that recognized the interconnected web of resources, people and ideas in the area.
